Eirini Kalliamvakou

Staff Researcher

I am an expert qualitative researcher focused on the human aspects of software development. My superpower is creating structure out of chaos. I interview, observe, and survey developers about how they work, to inform the creation of practices and tools that serve developers best. I also pair with data scientists to design cool mixed-methods evaluations.

Before I joined GitHub Next I was on an academic trajectory. I received my PhD in Computer Science from the University of Victoria, and stayed on for a 2-year postdoc. My research has won awards and has been published in top software engineering peer-reviewed venues. Check my Google Scholar profile here.

During my time at GitHub I have led the user research on GitHub Copilot, the Good Day project and the 2021 State of the Octoverse report, and have spoken extensively about engineering productivity.
